KPlayerb is a video playback app. 1080p/4K video files can be played more smoothly with the 'H.264/HEVC Hardware Acceleration' feature.³ It can also enjoy movies on a concise interface with high-quality subtitles that are displayed quickly. Finally, the 'Machine' feature can help better understand the movie.¹

'Machine'¹
• Requires macOS 15.0 or later.
• All On-Device.
• 'Translate Video Still': translates the text on the paused video frame.
• 'Transcribe Audio': dictates the currently selected audio track and save it at a 'P Folder' location in SRT file format.
• 'Translate Subtitles': translates the currently opened subtitles and adds them to the subtitles list.
'Subtitles'² (Sandbox⁴)
• Subtitles are displayed in real time even if it searches the playback position through the time slider.
• Ruby tag is supported.
• Embedded(aka Included, Internal) subtitles are supported.
• Subtitle synchronization can be adjusted in units of ±0.5 or ±10.0 seconds.
• In 'Separated' or 'Integrated' modes, it can select up to two subtitles to display.
• If it opens the video (file_name), it searches and opens the subtitles (named like these).
▹ (file_name/file_name*) at the same folder, or manually open (file_name/file_name*) from the same folder.
▹ Only if it opens the BDMV's folder, (folder_name/folder_name*) and then (file_name/file_name*) at the current 'P Folder', or manually open (folder_name/folder_name*) or (file_name/file_name*) from anywhere. (folder_name/folder_name*) is only for file with maximum duration in the playlist.
• 'Native' mode: supports external(ASS, SSA, SMI, SRT), embedded(TX3G).
• 'FFmpeg' mode: supports external(ASS, SSA, SMI, SRT), embedded(TX3G, ASS, SSA, SRT).
'Plan B'
• In the case of multilingual subtitles, it prevents the wrong size of letters from appearing in the middle.
• If characters cannot be displayed with the current font, the next font is applied in order.
• It is recommended to set from small set to large set order.
▹ For example, 'Gill Sans' for English, 'Hiragino Sans W4' for Japanese, 'ThecircleM' for Korean.
'Commentary' (Sandbox⁴)
• It supports TXT (plain text) type.
• It shows a plain text commentary file in a separate window.
• If it opens the video (file_name), it searches and opens the commentary (named like these).

'H.264/HEVC Hardware Acceleration'³
• This feature may not work depending on the file format.
• 'Native' mode: requires M4V/MP4/MOV types, the video encoded encoded in H.264(8-bit)/HEVC(8-bit), the audio encoded in AAC/ALAC
• 'FFmpeg' mode: requires the video encoded in H.264(8-bit)/HEVC(8 or 10-bit).
'Aspect Ratio'
• SAR / 4:3 / 16:9 / 1.85:1 / 2.35:1 / 2.40:1
'Playback Speed'
• +0.5x ~ +3.0x
'Skip'
• The Skip time is automatically set according to the running time of the video file.
• It is useful to skip the intro, opening, ending of the video.
'Exact Seek'
• If it is on, 'forward/backward' are moved by 3.0 seconds exactly. And this option uses more performance of Mac.
• It is valid only in 'FFmpeg' mode.
• This feature is useful when 'forward/backward' is not smooth due to abnormal keyframes.
'Playlist' (Sandbox⁴)
• If it opens 'video files', it is automatically made up of video files that have similar names in the same folder.
• If it opens 'folders', it is automatically made up of all playable video files in the folder. (Not depth)
• It can change the order of video files to drag it.
• It automatically saves and reuses folder-playlists, the most recent file-playlist, final playback status for each file in the playlist.
'Continued Play'
• After running the app, click the play button/menu to play the most recently opened video file.
'Move to Trash'
• The watched(played until the end) video files and its subtitle/commentary files are moved.
Playable Types⁵
• 'Native' mode: M4V, MP4, MOV.
• 'FFmpeg' mode: M4V, MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, WMV, RMVB, M2TS, TP, TS, TRP.
1. Machine
- The quality of the result may vary depending on the performance of macOS and the quality of the input source.
- Supportable languages may vary depending on the languages that can be supported in macOS.
- For 'Transcribe Audio',
▹ To add On-Device Supported Languages, 'System Settings' > 'Keyboard' > 'Dictation' > 'Languages' > 'Edit' > Select languages.
▹ To complete the download of the language you selected above, use 'Dictation' in that language at least once in an app like a text editor.
- For 'Translate Video Still' / 'Translate Subtitles',
▹ If there is no download of the language it needs to use, a dialog box may appear on the screen asking for language download.
▹ To manage the download, 'System Settings' > 'General' > 'Language & Region' > 'Translation Languages' > 'Languages available for download'
▹ If there are many sentences to be translated in the selected subtitle, it may take a long time to complete the translation. (In this case, about 2~3 minutes)
- For 'Translate Subtitles', it doesn't work in embedded(TX3G) subtitles in 'Native' mode.
2. Subtitles
- Some tags are ignored.
- In another way to use the 'Sync +10.0' / 'Sync -10.0' menu, hold down ⌘ and click '+', '-' icons on the bottom control bar.
- To quickly navigate to the selected subtitles of the list in the 'Info' window, press-and-hold or double-click the button at the bottom left/right of the active 'Info' window.
- For ASS/SSA subtitles,
▹ The margin setting of 'Settings' does not apply.
▹ When it chooses two ASS/SSA subtitles to display, it can be displayed with overlapping letters according to the subtitles tag.
▹ When it chooses two subtitles to display, if even one ASS/SSA subtitles is included, only the 'Separated' mode can be used.
- For embedded(TX3G) subtitles in 'Native' mode,
▹ It always displayed only at the bottom.
▹ When it chooses two subtitles to display, it can only choose one embedded(TX3G) subtitles. It can't choose two embedded(TX3G) subtitles.
▹ When it chooses two subtitles to display, if embedded(TX3G) subtitles are included, only the 'Separated' mode can be used.
3. H.264/HEVC Hardware Acceleration
- If the video track is encoded with settings not supported by macOS, it may not be supported.
- If not supported, playback and navigation may not be smooth depending on the video bitrate and performance of Mac. (especially when plays 4K)
4. Sandbox
- If it opens not 'folders' but 'video files' and these 'files' are not in the following folder or its subfolders; 'P Folder' folders in 'Settings',
▹ it should open the same-named subtitle/commentary files manually,
▹ and it doesn't support the feature that playlist is automatically made up of the similar-named video files.
- 'P Folder' option remembers folders once opened by this option. So, even if changes the current 'P Folder' value, it can access old 'P Folder' folders.
5. Playable Types
- It doesn't support the playback of a protected video file.
- When it opens the BDMV's folder, 'm2ts' files that are contained in 'BDMV' will be automatically added to the playlist.
▹ For example, if DSK/BDMV, please open the 'DSK' folder.
- 'Native' mode: can play the video encoded in 'YUV420P' pixel format.
- 'FFmpeg' mode: can play the video encoded in 'YUV420P', 'YUV420P 10-bit', 'YUV444P 8/10-bit' pixel formats.
※ 'Hacc', '10-bit' and 'Exact' options on the bottom control bar are only valid in 'FFmpeg' mode. And the '10-bit' option is only valid in Non-Hardware-Acceleration-FFmpeg mode (automatic in Hardware-Acceleration-FFmpeg mode).
※ When the loading screen or a specific task is in operation, attempts to execute most menus and functions are not accepted for smooth operation until the task is completed.
